This is a eight session class taught by Mark Lehmann and Boyd Hemphill. The class meets on the following Mondays:

DETAILS:

This class is designed for those with no SQL or MySQL experience. The instructors will use MySQL to teach basic SQL concepts.

 

These will be some of the topics covered:

- Creating a MySQL Database
- Using the mysql Command-Line Tool
- DataTypes: MySQL and others
- Creating a table
- Basic Queries : SELECT, FROM, and WHERE
- The GROUP BY clause
- The ORDER BY clause
- Conditional evaluation
- The NULL statement
- Simple JOIN statements
- Intermediate joins: Self-Joins, equi-joins, and others
- Basic SQL Functions
- Subqueries
(additional topics will be covered)

Students are requested to sign up for a basic Cloud Server account at Rackspace. The cost for a basic Linux server is roughly $12 a month. After the class is over, the server can be turned off and no additional charges will be incurred.

 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:

Mark Lehmann and Boyd Hemphill are veteran instructors of GeekAustin classes. Their most recent classes were MySQL Associate Certification Prep and Topics in MySQL Replication.
